From 29 August to 1 September 2025, MAYA project coordinator Dimitrios Fotiadis attended the European Society of Cardiology Congress in Madrid, where he chaired a panel presenting the CARDIOCARE project. The session, titled “An interdisciplinary and patient-oriented eHealth approach for assessing the efficacy of behavioural and psychological interventions on cardiotoxicity, intrinsic capacity and quality of life”, featured guest cardiologist Dr. Dorothea Tsekoura.
CARDIOCARE is a Horizon project launched four years ago and focuses on addressing the cardiotoxicity of breast cancer treatments in women over 65, an often underrepresented group in clinical trials.
In his concluding remarks, Dimitris drew connections with the MAYA project, emphasising that cardiotoxicity due to long-term effects of cancer treatment also affects younger populations. He further highlighted the importance of the role of AI and other digital tools in collecting and processing health data, with the potential to reshape cardio-oncology.
