The MAYA Project will host a session at the next Digital Transformation Summit in Madeira, next 15 April 2026.

Session

Cancer and Beyond: Practical Cross-Domain Digital Health Innovations

Session description

Cancer remains one of the major health and societal challenges worldwide, with persistent inequalities in prevention, diagnosis, treatment access and survivorship care. At the same time, advances in artificial intelligence, digital health platforms, wearable sensors and integrated data ecosystems are creating new opportunities not only to improve cancer care pathways but also to support broader health outcomes across related domains such as cardiovascular health, physical activity, lifestyle management and sleep.

Increasingly, European research and innovation initiatives are adopting cross-domain digital health approaches that extend beyond disease-specific interventions. These approaches aim to translate research results into practical solutions that empower patients, support clinicians and contribute to more resilient healthcare systems, while strengthening regional innovation ecosystems.

This session will showcase how multidisciplinary projects are advancing digital health innovation from cancer care to wider health and wellbeing contexts, highlighting AI-enabled tools, patient-centred technologies and ecosystem-building strategies. Particular attention will be given to survivorship, prevention, trustworthiness of digital solutions and the practical uptake of innovation in real-world healthcare settings.

Aim of the session

The session aims to:

  • Present concrete experiences and emerging results from European initiatives advancing digital health innovation in cancer care and related health domains, highlighting practical approaches to implementation and real-world impact.
  • Explore how AI-driven tools, digital health infrastructures and stakeholder engagement strategies can improve cancer prevention, treatment planning and survivorship care, while also addressing interconnected areas such as cardiovascular health, physical activity, lifestyle management and sleep.
  • Examine how cross-domain digital approaches enable continuity of care beyond acute treatment, supporting long-term health outcomes and quality of life.
  • Discuss how regional and international collaboration accelerates translation from research to clinical practice, strengthens innovation ecosystems and contributes to more equitable and sustainable healthcare systems.
  • Foster dialogue between researchers, healthcare professionals, digital innovators, policymakers and patient representatives to promote practical adoption of trustworthy digital solutions.

Format

  • Short presentations of selected European projects and initiatives in digital oncology.
  • A moderated round-table discussion addressing implementation challenges, ecosystem development, trustworthiness of AI and patient engagement

This is a call for projects to contribute to the session by sharing their results and/or by participating in the round table discussion. Interested in joining? Drop us an email at contact@maya-horizon.eu
